Purpose
Works closely with business stakeholders to design data modeling processes, create algorithms and predictive models, and help analyze the data to ensure shared insights adhere to the business needs.
Responsibilities
1. Suggest ways in which insights obtained might be used to assist in having an informed business decision.
2. Collect and clean data from various entities for later use by junior data scientists.
3. Select and utilize advanced statistical procedures to obtain actionable insights.
4. Responsible for cross-validation between different data sources to ensure their generalizability and consistency of datasets.
5. Produce and disseminate non-technical reports that detail the successes and limitations of each project.
6. Stay up to date with the developments and best practices in Data Science and adjacent fields to ensure that outputs are always relevant.
7. Assist the Corporate Senior Data Science & BI Lead in monitoring the performance of Junior Data Scientists to ensure the successful completion of projects and provide them with practical guidance (if needed).
8. Ensure compliance with all applicable AML/CTF rules and regulations as required in the conduct of the role.
9. Ensure timely completion of all relevant AML/CTF training provided by the Group.
10. Ensure response to AML, CTF & sanctions inquiries in a timely manner.
Job Requirements
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology.
2. 3 - 5 years of experience in data science.
3. Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
4. Experience in the following software/tools:
a. several coding languages: C, C++, Java, JavaScript, etc.
b. statistical and data mining techniques: GLM/Regression, Random Forest, Boosting, Trees, text mining, social network analysis, etc.
c. query databases and statistical computer languages: R, Python, SLQ, etc.
d. web services: Redshift, S3, Spark, Digital Ocean, etc.
e. creating and using advanced machine learning algorithms and statistics: regression, simulation, scenario analysis, modeling, clustering, decision trees, neural networks, etc.
f. analyzing data from 3rd party providers: Google Analytics, Site Catalyst, Core metrics, AdWords, Crimson Hexagon, Facebook Insights, etc.
g. distributed data/computing tools: Map/Reduce, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Gurobi, MySQL, etc.
h. visualizing/presenting data for stakeholders using: Periscope, Business Objects, D3, Ggplot, etc.
i. working with and creating data architectures.
5. Knowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
6. Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.
7. Good command of Arabic and English.
8. Good communication skills (written, verbal and listening).
9. Able to build partnerships and work well in teams.
10. Can identify problems and refer/escalate complex issues to a higher level.
11. Attention to details; ensure deliverables are always of a high quality.
12. Able to work effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
